Ascend Analytics is an innovative energy software and consulting firm at the forefront of the renewable energy transition for electric power generation. Their suite of software solutions offers market forecasts, energy-related insights, and portfolio analysis that enable intelligent decision-making. Among their many other services, Ascend’s analysts work with utility planners to develop the models and services necessary to create Integrated Resource Plans (IRPs) that electric utilities can rely on for planning to meet future generation requirements while integrating renewable resources into their portfolio mix.

Starting in 2023, Ascend contracted with Solari Communication to develop IRPs for three California utilities. Together, Ascend and Solari designed, developed, and created IRPs for each utility that mapped a plan to meet forecasted peak load and energy requirements while complying with myriad California requirements, especially the state’s Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) of 60 percent renewable generation by 2030 and their 100 percent zero-carbon energy requirement by 2045.
