The Northern California Power Agency (NCPA), a California Joint Action Agency established in 1968, is a consortium of sixteen locally-owned, nonprofit electric utilities. Its members include Alameda Municipal Power, Lodi Electric Utility, Redding Electric Utility, Roseville Electric, Silicon Valley Power; the Cities of Biggs, Gridley, Healdsburg, Lompoc, Palo Alto, Shasta Lake, and Ukiah; as well as the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) District, Port of Oakland, the Truckee Donner Public Utility District (PUD), and the Plumas-Sierra Rural Electric Cooperative (REC).
NCPA operates and maintains a 778 MW portfolio of power plants that generate energy from several sources, 57 percent of which are greenhouse-gas emission free. These clean NCPA resources include 250 MW from several hydroelectric facilities and approximately 120 MW from two geothermal power plants jointly called The Geysers, which draw power from the world’s largest geothermal field.
Solari worked closely with Ascend Analytics and NCPA on a project to advance NCPA’s mission: To provide members cost-effective wholesale power, energy-related services, and advocacy on behalf of public power consumers through joint action.
